Terrain-AI’s sister project Deca-Map (formerly known as CoPilotAI) has become the first external partner to compete in, and win, Microsoft’s biannual Fix.Hack.Learn hackathon. The hackathon, which took place from February 13th-17th, offers an opportunity for invitees to spend a week working with other people from other teams, disciplines, or departments.
Deca-Map is funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and has been developed as a tactical decision-support tool for the detection and management of wildfires. The team is a partnership among the National Centre for Geocomputation at Maynooth University, the Irish Defence Forces, and Wicklow Fire Service in association with Microsoft.
In participating in the FHL spring hackathon, the team sought to onboard the Deca-Map Common Operational Picture (COP) as a fully integrated Microsoft Teams App, streamlining communication and providing a single point of reference between air and ground crews in Forest Fire emergency response teams.
